What We Do

The Veilomani Food Program is the Foundation’s frontline response to food insecurity and basic household vulnerability. It exists because many families face a harsh reality: even when they are working, they may still be unable to consistently afford staple groceries, particularly when sudden shocks occur (job disruption, sickness, family separation, disasters, or rising living costs). The program delivers food packs designed around practical essentials that support a household for a defined period, and it may include dignity items where appropriate (such as sanitary products), recognising that true support must address both survival and human dignity.

Veilomani is not only a distribution activity; it is also a structured identification and referral mechanism. When assistance is delivered, the Foundation uses that moment to understand what is driving the household’s vulnerability and whether additional support is needed. Where families are chronically food insecure, they may be linked into Dignity Kitchen for daily nourishment, or into longer-term stabilisation support through Project Restart pathways. Where vulnerability is tied to protection issues, the household can be referred to Street Connect & Safe House supports or partner services. Over time, the Veilomani Food Program is designed to shift from purely reactive support to increasingly proactive targeting, using simple needs-based criteria so that the most vulnerable are reached first and resources remain accountable.
